Ultimately, earplugs are only effective if placed properly! Instruction should be given to each pt since many have never seen an earplug. We use pads next to ears also (although they probably don’t add much in the way of dB reduction, they do help to keep earplugs in the pts ear a bit better)

It is always good to use two forms of ear protection
